This past week has been full of warm, cozy feelings as we celebrated Valentine’s Day by sharing thoughts of friends and family members whom we love and making special Valentine’s cards just for them.
To fit with our Valentine’s Day theme, we have been learning the song “Skidamarink,” a North American children’s sing-along song, popularized in the 1980s by the Canadian children’s television show The Elephant Show. Here is a new, updated version from Super Simple Songs that we have very much enjoyed singing during our lessons this past week: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6916kVhbEZw
At our schools we’ve also had a super fun lava lamp science experiment, exploring the concept of density. Children were asked to guess which liquid is heavier, water or oil, and which one would float to the bottom or stay on top. By adding some food dye and alka-seltzer, we witnessed an exciting reaction that made our lava lamps bubble and fizz.
We wish everyone a wonderful winter break! And don’t forget to practice your languages whether in Finland or abroad!
